Commit To A Decade

A month isn’t enough.
A year isn’t enough.
A couple of years isn’t enough.
When you are trying to make your dreams a reality you must commit to at least a decade.
A decade gives you the time to “figure things out”.
It allows you to submit to the process of making your dream a reality rather than an incessant results-based mindset.
Committing to a decade makes temporary setbacks, losses, and mistakes insignificant.
You have your sights set on a long-range goal knowing that there WILL BE setbacks, losses, and mistakes, but every single one of them is conquerable given enough time.
Committing to a decade gives you the freedom to forget about the immediate results of your effort.
Did your new business lose money in year 1?
It doesn’t matter.
You have 9 more years to correct your mistakes, improve on your processes, and figure out your unique market proposition.
It’s this kind of thinking that creates massive successes in the world.
Most people look up from their efforts to see results way too soon.
They worry that things aren’t “happening” quick enough.
And the reality is that so many people quit something just before they were about to be wildly successful with it.
That’s what committing to a decade eliminates.
It eliminates the possibility of quitting too soon.
And I firmly believe that if you simply “don’t quit” you will be successful at almost anything you attempt in life.
Committing to a decade leads to almost certain mastery.
Can you really dedicate your life to something for a decade and NOT become incredible at it?
I really don’t think so.
If you decide on a goal and commit to it for a decade, there is no way that you are not going to become incredible at it.
It’s impossible.
First, the simple fact that you decided on a goal means that you have the ability to achieve it.
Second, committing to THE WORK it requires to become an expert at it, means that without a doubt, you are going to surpass 99% of the population at whatever that one thing is.
How can you not be successful at something if you are in the 1%?
Again, it’s impossible.
Committing to a decade might seem intimidating, but I think it’s actually quite liberating.
It gives you the freedom to experiment with your dream.
It gives you the freedom to try things that you might fail at.
Having this type of an attitude eliminates the fear of failure giving you more and more creative leverage because you’re NOT afraid to be different, unique, or to simply be the truest version of yourself.
There’s a lot of power in that.
So whatever your dream is, once you’ve decided that THIS IS IT, you need to go for it.
And you need to give yourself a REAL OPPORTUNITY to make it a reality.
The only way to do that is to commit to a decade.
